Blinds and shading for Strand
A long, flat swimming beach on False Bay with a promenade behind it — and a run of beachfront apartments and family homes taking the sun and salt spray head-on.
What homes here are like
Strand takes its name from the Dutch word for beach, and the whole suburb is organised around one: a long, gently sloping stretch of sand on False Bay, backed by a promenade and a mix of beachfront apartment blocks, older family homes further back, and newer developments filling the gaps between. Unlike Gordon's Bay's steep harbour terrain, Strand is largely flat, which means the sun and the sea wind reach almost every stand with nothing much in the way.
Beachfront units here get direct salt spray and full sun for most of the day — a different brief from a mountainside home a few kilometres inland.
What suits a Strand spec
- Sunscreen roller blinds in the 3–5% openness range on beachfront-facing glass, holding the sea view while cutting the glare that comes straight off the water.
- Zip screens for balconies and ground-floor patios, sealing out sand-laden wind without losing the outdoor space entirely.
- Marine-grade external hardware on any exterior product — direct beachfront exposure is harder on fittings than almost anywhere else we work.
- Motorised control for apartment blocks with multiple units sharing a similar orientation — one system, no chains catching sea wind on a balcony door.
